The Hockey PHD Team
At Hockey PHD we strongly believe that a great team is essential to the success of any individual. Our experienced and professional staff take pride in providing an exciting and beneficial experience to players at our camps. We staff our camps with a hybrid of our main staff listed below, as well as local coaches in order to ensure the highest quality of instruction.
Our Story
Hockey PHD was founded in 2019 by Dr. Thomas Orr with the intention of providing an advanced approach to youth hockey development as well offering support and guidance throughout each step of the hockey journey.
Meet The Team
Dr Thomas Orr
Founder & Head Instructor
Dr. Orr is level five USA hockey certified and has a PHD related to youth development. He is the current Assistant coach for the University of Mary Mens Hockey Team.
Donovan Gault
Co-Director and Advising Asset
Donovan has experience coaching at the Highschool, Junior, and College level. Along with coaching experience he is also a retired pro-player bringing a lot of first hand knowledge and experience. He is currently the Head Coach at Williston State College and scouts for various hockey programs.
Matty Orr (Brekken)
Head of Women's Hockey Operations
Matty is a former Division 1 hockey player who spent 2 years at The University of Minnesota before transferring to The University of North Dakota where she was named Captain. She is now a certified mental health counselor as well as a youth hockey coach.
Nate Anderson
Co-Director and Head Skills Coach
A former NCAA player and coach, Nate is pursuing advanced degrees in medicine and is a great mentor.
Lyndon Orr
Brand Manager and Assistant Director
Lyndon has 5 years of experience coaching youth camps and running ice sessions. He currently plays junior hockey.
Ted Stanczyk
Goalie Coach
Ted is a proficient goalie coach with years of experience developing goalies. As well as his work with Hockey PHD he also owns and operates his own Goalie Training company called Last-Line Goaltending based in Detroit, MI.
John Loefke
Goalie Coach
John is a great resource at Hockey PhD and brings a lot of knowledge and experience. He also owns his own company called Elite Goaltending Academy based out of Mankato, MN.
Rhys Anderson
Head Dryland Coach and Camp Instructor
Rhys is a great coach who knows how to push his players while still ensuring they have fun. He played hockey through college and still has a passion for teaching the game to the next generation of players.
